Easy Keto Mozzarella Sticks: Only 3 Ingredients

These easy keto mozzarella sticks have been on my list for a while. And I’m so glad I finally got to make them this weekend.  They were the perfect change of pace for a super yummy snack on my high fat diet. Plus, I totally enjoyed binging on them.

Before and after the photo shoot.

Now, you won’t catch me going on about the flavors andblend of ingredients this time. Why you ask? Because there are only three.

Four if you count the sauce.

All I did was pull out my homemade keto bread crumbs from the pantry, defrost some of my basic tomato sauce, and, with an egg and some cheese, these babies were ready to go a few minutes later. Obviously, if you choose to make the bread crumbs and tomato sauce it’s going to take a bit longer to have these mozzarella sticks prepped. But, the great thing about those ingredients is that you can make them way ahead of time and store them until ready for use.

I’m all about the meal prep and efficiencies.

These easy keto mozzarella sticks were also surprisingly easy to photograph. Five minutes of food prep, 15 minutes of cooking, and about 10 more minutes to shoot.

And like 30 seconds to gobble up.

Here comes the dip. Yum! Pictured is also some fresh oregano, which is always amazing to add to fresh Italian food. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do...er...did!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Take out your mozzarella and cut into 1/2 oz sticks. If you are using a big block, cut into rectangles. If you are using mozzarella string cheese, just cut in half.

  2. Place an egg in a bowl and beat it.

  3. Place breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.

  4. Dip cut cheese in the egg.

  5. Then dip cheese into breadcrumbs, and roll until completely covered.

  6. Place on a baking tray covered in aluminum foil.

  7. Repeat until you have completed breading all cheese sticks.

  8. Place tray of mozzarella sticks into the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour.

  9. After time has passed, place in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

Notes

  • You can pre-freeze the mozzarella sticks before you start, if you prefer.

  • I prefer a lower fat content, so I used reduced fat mozzarella sticks. I used 6 sticks, making 12 pieces. I also ended up using only about half an egg and less than a serving of my homemade breadcrumbs, linked in the post.

  • For my reduced fat version, the nutritional information for each piece is here:
